As with the Barossa, McLaren vale also has a very large range of wineries with cellar doors numbering well over 65.

Some of the larger ones suitable for group tours include Hardys Tintara Cellars, d’Arenberg Wines, Wirra Wirra, Maxwells, Chapel Hill and Mollydooker.

Smaller wineries are abundant and many are still family owned ranging from the older traditional wineries like Kay Bros., Amery Vineyards and Pirramimma to the young guns like Samuels Gorge, Alpha Box and Dice, Dog Ridge, Olivers Taranga Cellars, Pertaringa, Graham Stevens, Coriole, S C Pannell Wines and Angoves.

Others also worth a recommendation include Hugos, Shottesbrooke, Kangarilla Road, Scarpantoni Estate, Paxtons, Shingleback, Fox Creek to name a few.
